I started Luke Malpass Designs with a focus on designing & building beautiful furniture that will last generations. The goal is to help clients translate their ideas and needs into pieces that uniquely represent their style and fit seamlessly into their homes.
My passion for designing for form & function came from a childhood spent on our farm in rural Oregon. My parents were dedicated farmers who took pride in cultivating their land and building with their hands. Everything needed for the farm was fabricated in my dad’s one-man shop.
My journey to become a furniture maker came late in my career. After thirteen years in corporate finance, I realized something was missing. I kept remembering the pride I felt after helping to build something with my hands on the farm. I began building furniture as a creative outlet, but I yearned for something more. In 2018, I took the big step of leaving finance and pursuing my passion for furniture design full-time, opening up a shop in Austin.
In late 2019, I relocated to Seattle with my wife, Amira, and our rescue dog, Sage. My shop operates at Equinox Studios in Georgetown. If you’re interested in checking out my space join one of the monthly art walks (https://equinoxstudios.org/) or shoot me an email.
